Playing Garry's Mod on two systems

Hi, we have a pc and a laptop in our house. My son and his friend want to set up a server and play head to head, but we're not sure how to go about it. Help would be much appreciated.

every time we try to connect to a server on the laptop I get a "steam validation rejected" error. All they really want to do is play against each other, cant i do that through my home network?

Hosting servers can be tricky, I'm not very good at it myself. You should ask in the comments for that guide.

Yes you can do this through the home network. If you check the "local server" option on the host computer, you can host a local server. On the joining computer, under multiplayer, click local server and find the other ones game server from the list.

That is not needed. That is for online servers, he wants to make a local server. You can make a local server though single player.

Personally I think the best solution is to download a program called "Evolve" The program can help make a private server in a way.

you need to have two steam accounts with both having garry's mod, first: you have to have to be both conected on hamachi then one has to make a world and the other has to join him writing join''hamachi IP adress'' and just wait till your frind join the server... hope this helped :)
