How do I download games from Steam onto my Phone and then onto my PC?
There has to be some way of downloading a game from Steam on your mobile and then transferring the files over a cable. Can anyone inform me if such a thing could be possible? I'm asking this because I have an awful broadband connection (don't have much of a choice as my parents moved to a location with a poor signal reception) and I can't tether my phone to my PC and use my phones internet because those darn mobile service providers such as Three in the UK are hard capping tethering and charging if you go over 2GB. Thanks for any help, it will be most appreciated. I want to be able to download most of my Steam games somehow and it would be great if I could do them on my phone since it has 4G which is uber fast. :csgohelmet:

Can't unfortunately, wish you could, since my phone company doesn't let me tether as well. (mine just cuts me off if I do it once :P)

Ah that sucks. Maybe if it would be possible to emulate an operating system like 7 or earlier? Don't know. Maybe an expert could chip in.

you MIGHT, and note this is a big might, be able to run a virtual machine on it. But keep in mind those are rather big installs, and you'll wanna check in with your phone company about that if you're unsure (dammit now you've got me curious about trying it too)

Go into your steamapps folder on your PC and copy the files onto your phone and then plug the phone into your new PC and copy them onto there.

How? Steam needs to be installed and assign a folder location if it were an operating system. I don't think it would download it in a zip. :s

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S5 which is pretty powerful, if Windows XP can run Steam that would be awesome! If only there was some sort of emulator I can download for android. Sounds like something people haven't tried possibly. Hmmm if only you could trick Steam into downloading all the files to an assigned destination on your phone. Has me wondering if its possible but I wouldn't know how to go about it.

Steam itself is very small and will create the folder tree automagically. Phones act like a USB flash drive in a sense but depending on how big your phone's internal storage is or if it has a SD card, you may not be able to store games like Skyrim or Napoleon Total War on it.

Seeing as I have a 16GB sd card I should be fine with most games. My current broadband sucks major balls as its really poor connection and its capped at 40GB so I have to find a solution. I will try and install Steam on my phone and see what happens, would be great if it could work!

Looking into it, I can't find any way to make it work short of rooting your phone. And doing so may void any terms you have with your company.

Steam will install on Windows, Mac, or Linux. There is currently no way that I know to instal Steam onto a phone.

I was talking about my phone all this time. O.o there's a steam app for android but I'm not sure how it works.

I know your pain, I have to go to the library just to continue my download for borderlands 2, week 3 on it, 2 gigs downloaded. 7 to go.

Good luck. Don't give up! If I didn't have my internet capped I'd do the same.

You can download steam on your phone, but I don't know how to get games off of it onto your phone though

Bumping this thread.
My phone plan will only allow 15gb tethering, then throttle to 128k!

And the answer hasn't changed in over six years.
