I got 200 dollars worth of Steam Wallet Credit, but I don't know where from.
I haven't been on steam in awhile, but somehow 200 dollars worth of credit was randomly added to my account out of nowhere. This is weird because the notification email said I did it, but I didn't. The transaction information says that it was complimentary, but I'm not sure. Did someone put money into my account without my knowledge? Did they use my credit card or something to do so? Please help me get a quick answer to this.

Also, the charge for it seemed to go to someone else's credit card. One that upon further investigation show that it was some woman in the United States and I'm a Male Canadian. So there's something fishy there at least. I've already notified Steam, but I'm not as concerned my credit card was hacked or something. Now I'm just concerned about being accused of doing that myself even though I never have. Somehow, someone put a bunch of credits in my steam wallet for some reason and I need to know why.

Change all your major passwords after confirming your computer is secure and for the love of god do not touch the money.

You can't gift funds. Some how someone gained access to his account and added $200 from an American woman's credit card.

Well, indeed something is fishy going on there. Enjoy the "free" wallet credit or not, I suggest contacting Steam support and explain to them about the issue. Maybe you can work something out with them and it might take few days to weeks before they can get back to you so be patient. Good luck! https://support.steampowered.com/

I have in fact contacted them, I am still waiting for a reply. All I know is that I'm not touching that money for the moment as I do not want to look like I stole someone's cash and potentially get banned for something I didn't do. I am considering changing the password, which is annoying because I keep getting forced to do that lately and I'm running out of easy to remember passwords at this point.

No reply yet, but I did check something on my steam account. Someone from Japan logged into it or something. So that friggin scared me. Thankfully it doesn't look like they've used that time to buy anything and put it on my account. Whatever, changed the password on my email and account here. Hopefully that will be enough and I won't have to change it again in the next two week because of another damn hacker breaking in somewhere else.

Well, steam got around to things and refunded the purchases made on my account. I'm back to zero credit in my wallet where it was prior to this whole mess. I didn't steal a dime unintentionally and I therefore am in the clear. Hopefully this was all just a minor mistake and I have nothing left to worry about.

Did they send you a response or did the funds just disappear?

The funds just dissappeared, I don't remember if there was a response. Point is I haven't been charged with anything, monetary or otherwise, so I think the situation is resolved.
