Unable to launch The Sims 3 (Origin) through Steam

When I try creating a "non-Steam game" shortcut, and select any of the TS3 or Sims3launcher executables found in Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin, Origin starts up if it isn't up already and takes me to the Origin home screen. No launcher or sign the game has started at all.

Any help to get this working would be much appreciated.

You can gain the Steam Overlay on most Origin games by simply adding Origin itself as a non-Steam game. Make sure Origin isn't running before launching it through Steam.

Once launched, launch a game via Origin as usual, and you'll have the overlay.

Tip: You can rename non-Steam games by right clicking them in the Library and clicking 'Properties'. I usually have mine set to 'Playing on Origin'.

This doesn't work anymore. Anyone have any clues how to do that now? I used to set Origiin to play TS3, but it deosn't work anymore :(
