please help. STEAM SUPPORT TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT I GOT SCAMMED EVEN THOUGH THERE SYSTEM IS BROKEN. Lost a 550 dollar knife trading within Steams TOS. Item for items. The 999 Scam.
So i was going to trade my CSGO knife for a good amount of skins that then i could either use or sell on the market. He put up some Cryex's, Redlines and some other skins. I saw them in the trade screen. I hit accept. He accepted. Then we both hit confirm trade. He got my knife. I got no skins. I waited 10 minutes. There are no skins in his inventory or my inventory and my knife is in his inventory. In my trade history, it says i was GIVING my knife away! Why would i do that?! It was either an elaborate scam or some rare bug in the trading system. I am 1000000% sure i was supposed to get items. If he took them out, it would noify me in the chat screen. I saw nothing there. I bet on my families lives they were there. I did not take screenshots becasue it was going to be item for item trade and it should have been safe. Nothing elaborate. I have already emailed support. But i want to know if anyone here can help me. Thanks for reading.

I will not link to his profile to a random person so he does not get false reported. I am not calling him a scammer (yet). If no one has ever heard this happen, then i will give out his profile. Stay subed to this for more info.

well i wanted to look at this inventory not really report him..
because i have a feeling i know what this might be but no reason to write it or confuse people if i am not certain of it ;)

I talked to ak87 and showed him his profile. He is thinks it is the 999 item exploit. Hopefully ill get my knife back becasue i was not breaking TOS becasue i was trading steam items and no outside things. Any moderator, steam employee or anyone else, do you know what they do about it?

Sounds like you were tricked. He removed something at the last moment without you noticing.

Or he gave you a fake link and you "logged in" to do the trade but just gave away your password and he logged into your account and did the trade.

Either way, he tricked you somehow into giving away the items (as per your Inventory History).

Nothing you can do but Report him and contact Steam Support. Think back about the trade and how he may have contacted you and told you to add his or accept a trade.

They even have a new scam gong around now where they send you a "picture" of the trade.

It was the 999 item exploit. The AK guy thinks so. A lot of people on reddit think so. I told them exactly what ive told everyone else. They say there are multiple types of the 999 scam. If he changed the contents of the trade, i would be notified and i would have to reclick im ready. I would also look over it what he traded. I was not notified. He invited me to trade via steam chat. No links. I am also blocked by him.

Could it have been a texture glitch or something in the trade window? Probably not.

Couple days. I put "more than 24 hours" in the title becasue everywhere i post they tell me to wait to get my skins. And yes. I contacted support. Just thought someone might know here.

That's kinda odd as I thought that exploit was fixed quite a while ago, like the day it was found.

People have told me that there are multiple ways still to do it. I dont know if that is true, but like 15 people have told me the same thing.

Im not sure, but it wasnt him. I think i accepted his trade and he asked for all me tf2 stuff and was underballing me hard. Nothing in trade history to him.
