Set your profile to friends only then the status is removed from your profile, anyone checking in on you will not be able to see that you are in game.
What is public?
You mean I can select which friends I want to be notified?
Ok, but what if I don't want even my friends to see that information?
Your Steam profile, when you set it to allow people to view it.
I was being snarky... jokingly saying that when you set it to allow people, friends or public, to view your profile, that it's not an intrusion into privacy.
You can set it to block friends as well.
The settings are in Steam/Friends and then per user settings by right clicking the friends name in the friends list.
Ask them to set this up for you or remove them. :) Make a steam account just for your family so you hide your gaming habits from them. :d
Oh yeah, I understand, but that system isn't really pratical in many cases. It's like telling your neighbour to stop listening trough the walls!
Setting my profile to private should fill the bill though!
Its not really like that is it. You are in control of your steam account and only the ones you add can see any sort of info/activity about you.
Pro tip. Do not add ya mom on steam. :D
Just to be clear, the setting Eram referenced stops you from getting pop-ups about them. There isn't an option that controls what pop-ups another user gets about you.
Unless you are cool with her knowing you are playing Nekopara and HuniePop.
Why is your mom having a steam account anyway?
Why are you asking a person who posted in 2015?
