Logging into account on another computer
I've tried logging into my account on a new laptop and when I logged in I had no games in my library, no friends in my friends list and no items in my inventory. Also I didn't get any prompt about logging onto another device for the first time on the new laptop. I looked at previous transactions on the account and there were none. I logged out from the laptop and logged into this account on the original computer I made it on and it prompted that it was the first time logging onto that computer. When I logged in I had all my games but I had no items or friends whatsoever.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You definately enabled steamguard at some point on your main computer?

Goto Steam>Settings.

You should see if it's ever been activated.
I have it activated, I deactivated it and tried logging in without it on, but no difference. Still no games, friends or items :/

You are logging in to the wrong account on your new laptop. Which is why it doesn't have the same games or friends, or inventory, as your desktop login.

Any chance this is your other account?

I had suspected this also. I was asking about steamguard because they should have had to enter a code from an email and there was no mention of this. There's also the fact that the profile in this post has no games whatsoever, well, aside from DOTA2.

Good find on the other profile.

Oh, and just for clarification, this other part is explained as well

I logged out from the laptop and logged into this account on the original computer I made it on and it prompted that it was the first time logging onto that computer. When I logged in I had all my games but I had no items or friends whatsoever.

Since it was the account you didn't normally use, it didn't actually have games. And it didn't have the friends/inventory. But Steam finds all games installed on your computer, even if you don't own them. So when you logged into your original computer with the wrong account, Steam still saw all the games install from the right account. It actually wouldn't let you play any of them that were not free though, if you tried. It would likely pop up saying "This is owned by Osama-chan, you can ask for permission to play" or something along those lines.

Just as some additional info. When logging into a Steam account, you log in with an account name. This is hopefully not the same as your profile name for security reasons. Maybe this is how the confusion started.
