Google Play Music keyboard media shortcuts and steam

Just recently started using Google Play Music on Chrome and have found that the keyboard shortcuts to pause/play, next/previous etc. don't work when in a steam game or are on the steam application. They work with other applications it's only steam that makes it not work. I rebinded the pause/play key in Chrome settings to something random like alt + pageup and that worked with steam. Seems like Steam is blocking the media keys from working with just Chrome since I remember using the Spotify music application and the media keys worked fine with steam using Spotify.

I know I can just rebind the keys but chrome only lets me use certain shortcuts and most would be bound to something in-game. Just wondering if the Steam guys are aware of this.

Yeah I was thinking of that. Maybe programs have to get whitelisted so Steam lets them override Steam Music player's control of the media keys or something idk.

Sorry for the double post but wanted to say I've fixed it by running Chrome as admin. I run steam as admin so maybe it would of worked if I didn't run steam as admin idk that's the solution anyway.

You really shouldn't run web browsers as admin. The security implications are awful.

Maybe I'll just run steam without admin then can't remember why I started to in the first place.
