Well...not calling you a liar. But my machine seems to run better if I have more free space. Defragging helps with most of the performance loss. But I still only keep the games I plan on playing installed. Otherwise, I try to keep mine as clean as I can. It has kept my PC running in tip top shape....so I figure...if it isn't broke don't fix it.
Better tell us why a lets say 1tb hard drive would be slower if you put 700gb games on it, than having only 250gb games on it.
Hey man. I was just basically saying I am not trying to insult you or anything. I am no super techie. But I can see the performance difference. I have a 1tb hard drive. That is what I use for Steam and my games. The more the hard drive is filled up the more it bogs down performance. The only thing I can say is that I see it. I can't deny what my own eyes see.
There ya go. Boom. What I am saying in a nut shell.
If you have a 7200rpm hard drive, its good for gaming.
If you defrag the hard drive it doesnt make any difference if you have 100 games on it or 20. Because the data is most likely put together to reduce jumping.
At least here no matter which of my hard drives i used, playing games was never different.
To qualify that, that's only really applicable for mechanical drives that have physical heads/platters that need to move around, Solid-State Drives that are basically large flash cells shouldn't have that problem.
I have AIDA64, but I'm not aware of a FREE version of it to recommend.
