Gifts and Friends history

Hello,

Today i received a wrong gift from someone.
I cannot remember who send it to me and the gift history/activity history doesn't show this gift.
He was added and removed from my friends list, so i cannot see who it was with that method either.
Also, I did not receive an e-mail about this gift.
I did get a message with this gift, but i cannot find that either.

I already tried several methods of finding out the gift of the friends list history, but no succes...

Is there any way to find out who this was with a friend list history or a gift history?

I still have the gift in my inventory.

If it were a gift, you must have received an e-mail about it.

If you didn't receive an e-mail, it must have been a trade.

It is safe to say that it was one or the other.

Thank you for your response.

I already checked my e-mail and removed mail, but it is not there.
That is, if it was mailed to my normal e-mail (Also used for account verification) or are we talking about a special mail system on steam?
It was not a trade.

Edit: I just checked my steam contact e-mail again and I did not receive an e-mail on that account...

There is no gifts-only e-mail system.

This sure is unheard of.

The fact that whoever gave you that game is no longer in your friends list is also unusual.

Hi,

I just checked again and with previous gifts, i also did not receive any e-mail.

The fact that he is no longer on my list is normal, as i did remove him.

Edit: just to be clear: I redeemed my gift via a link.
Maybe that is why no e-mail was send?

Anyway I'd still like to know a way of finding out who send it to me through any received gift history or added / removed friend history.
