ummm..help?
soo.. about an hour ago i received a community moderation message saying content of my profile violates community guidelines and they have removed some profile showcases and profile text. i have put hundreds of hours into designing my profile and it has been that way for years, now they stripped it all off. yes ALL of it.

all my artwork, screenshots, achievements, badges, infoboxes, ALL RESETED to ZERO.

i have already ticketed support but i'd like some answers from actual people as to what is going on. i'm expecting to get that usual bot copypasta saying to read guidelines etc.

someone said theres a new policy that makes it so it removes content that are copyrighted or something? well, how do i prove them that i created everything that was there?
some of it was commissioned from a designer as well and i do have the receipts...

i'm so depressed now looking at my profile i used hundreds of hours and dollars to decorate being just all gone now.

But anyway, I was able to view your entire profile and scroll through all of it.

As I said in my other post, you even said on your other thread you've gotten scammed by trying to trade these items because they cannot be traded normally. Is it really so hard to understand then why advertising it on your profile might not be a good idea?

And again, putting prices on your profile is not something I would do either, because that probably is more likely to get you auto-moderated as Support/Mods likely look for certain key words and phrases when reviewing profile reports.
well i've been doing it for years. since like 2015 when the first collector's edition dropped.

yeah excuse me for not knowing these things. all iv'e been thinking is investing in loot boxes that don't come back and maybe some day someone will find value in them. just like csgo for example. i've got no effin clue about that extra nonsense.

if anything i've been doing community service by fueling the needs of those who missed those amazing hats. i mean they've been very happy. heck i confess i had 2 customers today and they're gona come back for more, i even gave them extra sets for being good sports.

All I can say is lesson learned. I did trading for many years and I've seen plenty of people have things on their profile removed/reset for having links and other things like that there. It's a risk that you will always take by putting it on your profile especially if they're outside links or advertise any method that isn't within the Steam trading window itself.

And yes, there's also plenty of people who have that stuff all over their profiles, sometimes for years, and it never gets removed. Again, it's just a risk and likely depends on whatever moderator is reviewing the report at that time. The only way to avoid it is by not doing that and only using your official Steam trade offer link and only trading within the trade window. Nothing more than that.

Anything outside of that is not supported by Steam. Regardless of your own opinion on it. I won't say anything more than that because I am not going to risk a ban myself advocating or opinionating one way or the other.

RMT, although indirectly.

You buy boxes, hoard them, use them for a trade although it is TECHNICALLY prevented by the system (only available as gift).

Therefore yes, RMT outside the Steam Marketplace.

RMT = Real Money Trade

there is no real money trading happening tho. its skin for a skin.

It is money for box, box for skin. Not a supported trade. Trades outside the Steam Marketplace that involve Wallet balance or other forms of real money directly or indirectly are not permitted.

This is also why there's a temporary hold (untradability, unmarketability) on items bought on the Steam Marketplace.

where do you think skins come from other than lootboxes?

i get a skin from a box i bought from official valve store, now i want to move it but i can't use the trade window, i use the gift window instead (because i can and its allowed)

i don't see how that is Real Money Trade?

the skin is worth monopoly money (steam funds) and i'm not selling it on ebay, but i'm trading with another steam user. i don't get it. nobody is using real money in the trade.

The skins in such boxes, unless they are extremely rare, are account bound, further reinforcing the intention of personal use and consumption only.

It is RMT because those boxes can only be bought with real money and aren't meant for trading.

are you sure you can't use steam funds? the monopoly money to buy them?

You can use Steam Wallet balance, yes, but it's still real money within Steam, because it is store credit. You can buy games with it, you can buy items on the Marketplace with it, therefore it has an equivalent function.

The origin of Steam Wallet balance, before it changes hands through the Steam Marketplace, is always real money.

no its not real money. but i can use real money to buy steam funds yes.

just like i can buy robux in roblox or v-bucks in fortnite. but i can't convert it back to real money, because its not real money anymore, its monopoly money. game money.
Whether or not it counts as a "RMT" I think is irrelevant here. The reason for the moderation is most likely that your profile advertised an unsupported type of trade, whether or not real money is involved.

Although if there's no real money involved I am curious as to why your bio listed prices in real money. Either way, best to take it as a lesson and not risk putting it back on your profile. As I said it's true that some people go unmoderated for it but it doesn't change the fact that you are willingly putting your profile at risk of facing moderation, or worse, a trade ban.

No sense in arguing about it here back and forth when the argument clearly isn't going anywhere. I think you should just consider my advice.

The origin of Steam Wallet balance, before it changes hands through the Steam Marketplace, is always real money. Therefore, wallet balance IS the equivalent of real money and its use in trade directly or indirectly is seen as commercial.

You (or someone else if you got the boxes gifted) used wallet balance (which must have a real money origin in the trail of transactions on the Steam Marketplace) to obtain these boxes, therefore it is RMT.

By that logic most trades are RMT because many items that can traded can only be obtained through purchasing things with real money...

I don't think that part is really the problem here.

because i want marketable skins for my investment that i can re-sell and re-invest back in the game. i can keep trading for indefinite amount of time.

all i'm doing is catching all the sales Valve has, and trading those hats to who missed them and making a small profit in the process. nothing shady about that.

again i'm not getting real money out of it, just marketable skins that i convert to steam funds so i can keep the cycle going.

and why the pricing on my bio? purely for convenience so people know what to offer and i don't have to go on explaining them every time.

i had also the entire process Q&A listed in my infobox how the trade and gift will take place.
every little detail about it was explained.
