Repairing files
Dragon Age Origins is crashing a lot, so I tried to install the '4GB patch'. You have to guess a bit installing it, I asked but no clear answer, tried installing it.

Now the game won't start. How can I 'repair files' to undo the patch? If I need to uninstall and reinstall, how can I keep the game saves?

Delete any files the mod added and then verify the files in steam (Right click on the game and select properties... > Local Files > Verify integrity)

The mod didn't add a file, it asked to be pointed at the game executable and changed it.

I found the verify files and it replaced the file, now it runs. Now for the patch...

1) right click on the game

2) left click "properties"

3) go to installed files tab

4) click verify integrity of game files

"vaemer-riit" gave wrong instructions to "verify integrity of game files".
