How To Silence Steam Notifications

I was playing my game last night, and recording and I had friends messaging me so it was heard while playing my game, I had to quit and delete my recordings and re do my previous play agan due to the notification sound in the game.

How do I silence messaging . I looked in steam notifications and couldnt see anything.
I was invisible at the time. I dont mind messaging but when I was recording it interruped my play so how do I turn off the notification sound so it doesnt interrupt my gameplay while I am recording gameplay

I'll ask you the same question I'd ask beginner techs when they'd come up to me with an issue and that is "What have you checked so far?"

Steam -> Settings -> Notifications

Then turn off all options where it say ''play sounds''

I just changed it to show notification toaats "when I am not in game", there is no option to turn off sounds for messages so hopefully that change worked
