Refund Refusal Due to Game Ban — Seeking Human Support
Hello,

I've been repeatedly denied a refund for Rust on Steam, and I'm hoping to speak with a real person about my situation.

I was banned from the game approximately 9 years ago. After removing it from my library for a few years, I decided to purchase it again recently. However, after launching the game, I discovered I was still banned and unable to play.

I immediately requested a refund, but it was denied—apparently because of the ban. This seems unfair, as there was no warning or notice indicating that buying the game again while still banned would make me ineligible for a refund. It feels like I paid for a product I can't use, with no prior warning.

I'm aware of the Facepunch article regarding bans and second chances:
https://support.facepunchstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/28339393042973-Ban-Second-Chances

But I still believe I should have been notified before purchase that the ban would still apply and that a refund wouldn't be possible.

How can I get in touch with a human representative at Steam Support to discuss this directly? Automated responses aren't addressing the issue.

Account details -> Purchase history -> Find the purchase -> I have a question about this purchase

If they still say no, then that's your answer.

You are not getting a refund from a purchase made 9 years ago.

Also, a VAC or Game ban makes you ineligible for a refund for that game.

Also removing a game from your library doesn't remove it from your account. It is just an advanced hide. When trying to buy the game again it would tell you this and not let your buy the game again.

Of course removing the game would not remove the ban. If it did that would be the easiest why to get unlimited unbans.

Regardless like Hotsauce said both the fact you bought the game over 9 years ago and the ban will make you ineligible for a refund. Speaking with support will not change this.

The licence is deactivated. The system knows you have the game and why you are able to restore the game and reactivate the licence. You cannot repurchase it on the same account.

Which clearly states:

If you were banned over 8 months ago, and you haven't reoffended, you can return, by purchasing Rust on a new account.
