Steam Client Login Problem

For weeks now, I've been trying to log in to a newly installed Steam Client on a new Laptop computer. I can log in to my online account, but I'm unable to log in to the Steam client. I've changed passwords a few times, and that doesn't work. The password information that works online does not work on the Steam client. I have a favorite game in my Steam online library that I want to re-download onto this new computer, but it says, "REMOTE DOWNLOAD STATUS:

To remotely download games to your Steam Client, your PC must be awake with an internet connection and you’ll need to be signed in. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME? I cannot find any answers and Steam help chat is useless.

One common mistake people make is using their ''profile'' name instead of ''account'' name when trying to login.

What error message do you get when you try to log in?

Please check your password and account name and try again.
