High Disk Usage but Slow Install Speed — Game Stuck During Installation?
Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with downloading and installing games on Steam. As you can see in the [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XVstXp58TyYx_1U0JgdrTtANSDSTL4D7/view?usp=sharing] screenshot [/url], I'm downloading Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition. The download speed is fine (~50 MB/s), but the installation process is extremely slow.

Steam shows high disk usage (up to 96.9 MB/s), but the actual installation progress is stuck or moving very slowly. It's been stuck around 52% with 8 GB downloaded out of 15 GB, and Steam says around 2 hours left, which doesn't make sense given the speed.

I'm using an SSD with plenty of free space. Restarting Steam and my PC didn’t help.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this a known bug or is there a workaround?

Look like Blocking issue from Antivirus app. then it stay stuck. slow dont count.

Steam evet sale atm,
try change steam DL zone and hope its not own ISP that is congeessted.

Make steam.exe on aNtivirus exception rules.

Do check Anti virus app qurrantine folder some AV has sucj and that game name.exe could be qurrantine. so add that to exception rules could eba a good idea.

Make sure you have 200gb free storage space after the game size, so OS has temporary work space and not get hit by performnace issue, the lesser free space most pc user has learn this make system slower just because i said at my dreives get effectr at around 160mb free is diffrent per drieves and cache on the drives.

This dont look like a write behind cache issue. with fluctuating download speed ( know as Hamonica effect. ) buffer up then pc cant handle it can give more performance issue depend on who you ask, but we could also say work as intended

The thing is I use no additional anti-virus software, only built-in windows defender and I've already put steam.exe file to exception rules. Quarantine folder is empty. I don't know what possibly could be the issue. Maybe its about internet provider?
My ssd also have no errors, CrystalDiskInfo shows that it is in very good condition

Change steam DL zone to test if this actual matter, but most here will not agree on a stock issue ?% donwload same nr. that mean you have a block issue that was old DL stuck issue .

Do not have win7 steam change algorithm , and have effect some steam user. but ythen its corrupts DL and not Stuck. try read through steam logs, and see if you can ID it.

We as steam user here can only point at something rest is in your hands to deal with it.

and yes steam has a evnet sale atm. thats why yuo try change steam DL zone if this dont help that mean your ISP is congessted wan lines.

Thanks for your help but nothing helped(
In case if my provider have congessted wan lines what should I do? I can check it somehow in router settings or should I text their support?

busy disk and slow install speed means that your drive you install is too slow to handle your download speed from Steam.

Steam is very I/O intensive - it downloads encrypted and compressed diff chunks, decrypts them, then decompresses them. Thenafter, Steam stores a backup copy of the file pre-patch before applying the diff (creating another file), then deletes the backup copy.

Download speed is limited by:

* Your storage device's I/O capabilities
* Your CPU
* Your antivirus or other ring 0 kernel driver's (Firewall, device drivers, anti-cheats, ...) I/O efficiency
* Your ISP's peering agreements and infrastructure.

Pick one or multiple.

usually, to fully saturate most fiber lines via Steam, you require a M.2 NVMe drive. SATA SSDs, let alone HDDs, are too slow.

My disk is KINGSTON SNVS1000G, M.2 NVMe, PCI Express 3.0

So I limited download speed 10x slower and graph looks perfects, so the problem is my network speed it too fast for my ssd to handle, thanks for you help
