Why have steam trading card prices increased so much?
Just a few months ago, I could craft lots of badges for 25-30 cents, but now the badge prices have increased so much that it has become impossible to craft a badge for me. Is the removal of the card drop feature with the discovery queue during the winter/summer sale period responsible for this?! The price of sale trading cards increased a lot during the last winter sale for this reason.

I think it has something to do with people making game badges to get Sale cards. In the Summer/Winter Sale period, when you level up a game badge, you get one of those Summer/Winter Sale cards for free.

it's normal people not the publishers, simply it's supply and demand.

publishers make the game badges. i might misunderstood ur comment.

Yes. Actually, this has been a feature for years, but we can't get sale cards for free with discovery queue like before. That's why sale card prices increased. When the sale cards increased, the prices of normal cards also increased.
I wish I had crafted the badges during last winter's sale. It would have been much cheaper...

Calm down :D. You wrote "making game badges" instead of "crafting game badges" in your comment, so he misunderstood you.

Trading card prices are always high before the sale because there aren't as many in circulation and users want more for them. When the sale starts, prices typically drop but since the discovery queue doesn't drop cards any more and ways of obtaining them are limited, they actually may remain fairly high. I think the average price during the sale was 3x the usual amount.
