Graveyard Keeper
* Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions.
that should work, AV security app. ( make exceptions rules might help. )
DayZ
Palia should aslo work assume you ofc have game requirements. same with DAYZ
Try Can i run it, if you are in doubt, yes its just aapp, but maybe it could help you if you do not know own pc spec.
Graveyard Keeper ( dont expect it will helper you with this game then steam say win10 support only, im not sure app know this. ) * Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions.
however, as stated in my original post,
GraveyardKeeper and DayZ were just *examples* of a small(er) and large(r) gamedownload
and install that was *successfull*!
I mentioned it as a reasoning (together with the other data i provided) for my conclusion that there must be something buggy with the download of the Paliagame itself, and not some general hardware/software/network issue on my side...
When DayZ with 18.8GB download comes through/savesToDisk to the end, why not Palia with 15.2GB?
We're at the download stage, hence any problem that may occur when actually installing/running the game comes later and *should* not affect the aquisition of the installation files itself...
Enough HD space?... *check*
Network: does data come through?... *check*
Data written to disk?... *che... well, not to the end, that's the issue!
However, i might overlook something, hence my post/question here...
Regards, Kerulon
Edit: typo
Yepp, HDD is fine (Windows Errorcheck for drive X: ^^) and the steamclient does successfully write to it.
As there's is by now other data on it (the other 2 successfully installed games), Palia wouldn't write onto the *same* place when writing to disk now (could be, but highly unlikely), so the fact that the download seems to encounter the same problem in the same stage of progress (14.7GB/15.2GB) would speak against a fault at a specific sector of the disk (and yes, i'm moving around files from/onto there all the time ^^)...

Also add steam.exe just in cae this help, but that dont explan game own .exe file ofc already blocked.
Know the diffrence in DL and start game afterwards, that not same thinghy. the little detail matter here.
ps.
I have seena steam user reinstall steam and claim not it work DL again.
yes its sounds crzy , try reinstall steam ovber current and see if this can help.
This is recent a steam user said this. but i and other scrates our head ofc, and suspect
clear DL cache , but he said he already did this, this is why its so odd.
Enough HD space?... *check*
Network: does data come through?... *check*
Data written to disk?... *che... well, not to the end, that's the issue!
How much is check if you are not past 200gb + dl size, we have seen next gen game like BGIII on own support page say have way more then planty, ( imo that 3 to 5 multiplied old was as we did in the past with packed archievd DL that need unpacking before installation that already 2 time with DL so 3 times for installament. ( thats how we did it in the past )
Data write no eror msg like stuck at % or write to disk errror i think some has.
And i only know antivurys that can do this, rest is checksum error so write to disk is a issue and again Antivirus app can be part of the issue, we have seen AV app interference with steam.
Last is disk itself check drev disk ( chkdsk ) if you know that old dos cmd ways. most never caugh a issue with this anymore, and we have seen drev that pass alol test and still no solution and a steam user replace drev and wola no problem, so its not that simple anymore.
Thats hard drev support page and firware upgrade and get lucky if this fix drev.
still hard drev support problem and they should know about this.
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1F39-DCB4-FF28-5748
Although the HD check didn't find any errors, i'll get myself and plug in another harddrive to download onto... will report back if that was indeed the culprit...
Regards, Kerulon
And this is why you should inform steam and hard disk brand support. ( steam is not stupid they can see a increas of write isue if they have notice this, but that dont mean its a steam issue atm.
ps.
Feel free to do that ultimate test or move drev to other pc and test there. most do not have such option, just because i use process of falthy finding, its still hard drev support that should be on the case.
It's also odd that them old drev issue we had in 80 and 90 to 00 , look like them old crap issue with drev themself, i can't be the only person that think this.
Dont forget we can be rough here and still stick to look like a blocking issue, you pc and your security systeam is doing it. ( becuase it look just like that. )
This is why other pc and test drev with it can clear the drev and you do have a system issue , but you just DL 2 games and then bam and then no other DL is possible, thats is our little clue.
Dont forget the format of the disk as last test, assume you did this, but we are not mindreads here.
and you new drive also send a clear msg then that work.
i needed 3 tries to install the game on my girlfriends computer. same failure like yours.
and its impossible to install it on my rig. its stop at 95% (14,7gb) every time. after 4 tries i have enough. maybe someone have an idea. grettings from germany
