ppl think i did nothing wrong, tech dude can tell you, yes you did.
And it has not help with explan this over 3 years, so why should it now.
PC user do not understand the windows and steam issue how they work together in .url aka windows desktop shortcut.
And i have 500+ games, my issue happend 10 decads ago atleast, problem is i know what i did follow a guide to fix my steam and wipe steam icon folder inside steam, and learn the wrong way what sideeffect i just did.
Also why read old backwards steam guide in reset steam, is not steam problem but that user that has no clue in backup, and i also is to blaim for not make backup before i did.
So there iit is, best option is not use windows desktop icon shortcut.
ps.
Again this is 10+ years ago, and it keep happend apox every week for a new steam user.
steam will not fix this, they have not done so fare, so why will they do it now.
And when you get i dont blaim steam for not fix it, that just make it worse right.
and yes you can fix it, but someday you stand with 100+ games and need to do it all over again, becuase of what you did. ( its inhere you get the issue, and learn use steam collection and lauch steam games from there ) no more old crappy little crap icon issue, because you have moved on. ( and then you get it and will be happy about this reply. )
other side of this there is steam users with 1k to 5k games, then steam old windows desktop icon is annoying as hell.
stop doing that or you will get reported. for being annoying and clueless to the toppic you did and accus other use app.
let me be rude to you , its your job to seek own knowledge here , and all the i dont know about is your problem, no i ythink i ned to report you for it so we can stop this at steam.
or even better let steam shutdown all users forum, because they dont need user like you that have a issue but has no clue what they have to do to fix it.
There is no one button fix. gl with get help with research , i bet you did not even do that.
you dont graps the issue with 500+ games there is no room or fix for it
and technicaly it dont matter if this is one icon issue to all of them.
you cant have 500+ at windows desktop or quick launch, or other windows way not even in a folder many title in one folder also will be a issue sooner or later.
steam also told you about warning with icon not there at all not all game have huge icon even. so you see windows desktop icon can be seen as dead old ways letover from the past and it will not be fixed. ( this topic is complicated depend on view you do at them. )
There is no BIG icon to alot of games so, windows desktop can be seen as dead and gone, if a steam user ask for this only. and we cant fix old games icon here and we will not. as steam users, and i bet steam support will say same thing , they will not fix games that dont have them.
so alreayd here steam support will say not possible to fix and windowws desktop icon leftover from the past + game devs that make them its over and gone.
and thats my point see how little you know about anything here.
gl with it
ps.
Thio is why many of us stop use old windows desktop icon shortcut, not worth it. thenyou get past a certain game nr. you have bought., and maybe thats the problem with OP lesser then 100 games here.
Open your steam, you should see the incorrect icon
Right-click the blank steam icon and click on "steam". It should say item that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved and Prompt you with "Do you want to delete this shortcut?"
Click Yes to delete the shortcut
As your steam is still open, A new correct icon will replace the incorrect one.
Right click the correct steam icon and pin to taskbar
Such a simple solution! And it worked, thank you :)
Only i had to do an extra step by moving my steam shortcut i have in my "Games" folder outside onto the desktop. When i previously tried this, it didnt work. But with your solution and then the extra step, now i can see the steam icon just fine despite the shortcut being in a folder.
Thanks :)
