Absolutely, in alot of cases it also boosts performance to have it plugged in. :)

It's actually preferable since most laptops reduce power settings to conserve battery power which would negatively impact game performance.

I play with my laptop plugged in, if you unplug before playing a game you will be able to notice the change straight away, games are laggy and slow.
