Portal 2 will not open for me
When I try to open Portal 2, I get this error in event viewer:

How do I fix this? I can't get an admin account so that is not an option.

Try add portal2.exe to antivirus exception rules and see if that the problem here, you blocking it.

also add steam.exe to the list while yuo are at it.

what's your system specs?
it crashes when calling the dx9 shader API.

my specs are terrible lmao i have a quadro 420k, 8gb of ram, a 1 terrabyte hhd, and task manager says "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1607 v4 @ 3.10GHz" for my cpu

You probably lack the following dependency, if you can even install it on that server:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

If you don't have admin permissions on that server, then you most likely don't have gaming permissions on that server, either.

Reinstall GPU driver in custom mode, to make a clean install.
