Launching anything through Steam slows PC to a crawl
Ever since yesterday, launching anything using Steam, including non-steam games, slows my computer to a crawl, making it unusable until the game is closed.

Once the game is completely closed, the slowness stops.

There is barely a difference in my CPU and Memory usage when it's slow.

This happens with all games and programs I launch using Steam, such as Black Myth Wukong, Terraria, and Lossless Scaling.

So far, I tried updating my drivers, restarting my PC, opting out of Steam's beta, reinstalling Steam, right-clicking on the drive in "This PC"> and going to Tools and using both "Error checking" and "Optimize and defragment drive" and clearing in the drive.

There is no problem if I launch a game without Steam, so it's not that I can't play something from a different launcher, but I'm locked out of most of my games currently.

If I launch a Steam game through a different launcher, then there's no problem of slowing down. If I launch RimWorld through Steam, then my computer becomes unusable until the game's process is killed. If I launch RimWorld through a mod manager such as RimSort or RimPy, then there's no problem.

Specs:
Windows 10
i7-9700
AMD RX 5700 XT
32GB RAM

go to your BIOS and disable the integrated GPU so Steam only uses your RX 5700 XT. Also, after that, ensure that you use the display connectors your RX 5700 XT provides, not the ones that your mainboard provides.

I disabled integrated graphics, and I'm using my gpu's display connectors, and I think there's a slight improvement.

Now, my computer is slowed when launching anything through Steam, though not as badly, and the games are always not responding.

Steam itself doesn't really do much. It provides some features for game developers -- stuff like DRM, achievements, and anti-cheat. But, other than that, there's nothing special about the Steam app. It might eat up a little bit of RAM on your PC, but it's nothing compared to the games themselves.

If your PC is slowing to a crawl when launching games from Steam, it's because you've got your PC misconfigured somehow. Check your PC's temperatures and such. Maybe you're being throttled do to heat issues.

CPU moves between 40 to 60 degrees when idle, and at most 85 degrees when playing something.
