Steam games are having random lag spikes
Whenever I boot up any game on Steam, it'll sometimes suddenly drop to less than 5 FPS for a few seconds (usually within minutes of opening it). This doesn't affect the audio, although sound effects won't play until a new frame begins.

I checked Task Manager and the games' CPU usages are spiking from 15% to anywhere between 30% and 60%. Some of my games seem to lag almost every session, while others rarely have this issue, but I've noticed it in every game I own. I'm fairly sure the problem is with Steam because none of my non-Steam games do this. I use Windows 11 with a Ryzen 5 7520 U processor, if that's helpful.

I've tried:
- Restarting my computer
- Setting the process priorities higher than the defaults
- Closing every other window while a game is running
- Installing all available Windows updates and drivers
- Scanning for malware
- Adding the steamapps folder to the Windows Defender "exceptions" list so it wouldn't be auto-scanned

Stop user other steam user screwup ideas, with high priorities , game devs do not set pc in this mode and test for stability, learn to use powerscematic in ultimated power or whatever they call it in your system, all from game mode to max performance.

and learn to check windows game mode is on again, things has change , in old day we simple turn off such app resources game mode they was giveing more issue to out system in the past , thi is not so anymore. many games aim for max win dows performan for our games rest with make window quality not so much.

U processor that know as cheapman CPU , viatual cpu you actual dont have. ( emulating cpu toy dont have put even more pressure on the real cpu that has to do 2 times work.

You need game that dont use max performance because if you need all core and ghz you are in troulbe. ( why we know this there was pc 10 years ago as dual and 4 core that somegame need 4 and 8 core and that did noit go well for them, pc then game requirements was more then them pc had.

And you dont mention what games. ( and let see if there is a steam issue atm. alot post by steam user atm. )

if you notice the overlay issue atm, could actual get your pc to lag, but you dont mention overlay issue atm.

As always make sure your BIOS and chipsetdriver is update, so pc run as smooth as possible.

Again we have no clue on what game and do you actual have the game requirements. with U processor. ( typical laptop specific build ) more a multi media pc in old day ,or office pc i thnk they call it today. )

And understand why we are not happy with u processor , you actual help next steam user never buy them pc ever again. if we talk about game pc and the performance issue.

We could as user also say you bought now you have to live with it. ( we actual try not to be rude here )

I learn them u processor from next door neighbour way back, and it still stand imo, stay away from such pc if you have a choise at all.

you might want to look at game with lesser requirement , same as i do with pc that is not highend pc as i call them.

feel free to use GPUZ to see if im right in the nr of CPU and if that might be part of the issue.

Literally every game on Steam I play, regardless of how intensive it is, lags. I heavily doubt this Minesweeper game would be too much for my PC, but it lags nonetheless. I tested it on Genshin Impact earlier and it was able to run at a stable 30 FPS with no lag spikes like this.
I'm not sure what you mean by "steam overlay issue". I don't use the overlay at all normally.

Thats game could be a issue today, might be why steam post this at store page now.

Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions.

I'm using Windows 11 right now, as mentioned in the OP.
if you have a HDD, check it's usage, you might want to upgrade to a SSD.
"Installing all available Windows updates and drivers" maybe try reverting back to older drivers, there might be some bug with newer ones

It'øs the game that's not win10+ and steam point it out, if this was not a issue, steam will not post this.

ps.
if you notice other old game has Dosbox and other has talk about VM machine that emulated past games like old window OS, how fare they got on the subject i dont know,

atm bets optiopn to play old game is have a old pc with that ein7 or other older OS.

This is same as other c64 and amiga emulator from past games we once loved Mission impoible and Deuteros. ( someday i bet we get allowed to have a VM that might emulating any past system for whatever game. but we are not there yet.

I dont keep up to date on past emulation, i only know c64 and amiga and dosbox is there, rest of windows have not had needed then i still have old pc with win7.

maybe read game own forum and see if there isa fan that has fixed the game issue.
