Corrupt disc error
I'm just trying to download DMC 5, downloading it onto a different drive and stream keeps saying the disc is corrupted but I have done all the troubleshooting methods to fix it, including checking the drive for bad sectors and it came back clear! Nothing is wrong with the drive. The only method I can think to do is to format the drive again but I really don't want to do that. Any advice on how to fix this?

Now to be clear this is doing this to any game I try fo download onto this drive but I literally do not have any other 1tb drive and my motherboard only has one SSD slot so I'm kinda stuck with just this drive for the bigger games.

Edit: I can't believe I have to say this but apparently some people think that I do not understand how hard drives work on the basic level. If the drive was almost full or completely full I would not be attempting to install this game on the drive! But for those wondering No I don't know the model of the hard drive it is an old hard drive I pulled out of an old Dell laptop I had in high school because it was the only one terabyte drive I owned and it's still works. As of me writing this It currently has 395 GB free of 907 available! If it was an issue about the game being too big to install into the drive because there is not enough space not only would steam have said I could not install it because there was not enough space on the drive but I could physically see it as well!

Yeah, that sounds rough. Before formatting, try clearing Steam’s download cache, changing your download region, deleting any .acf files in your Steam folder, and running Steam as admin. Sometimes that fixes the corrupt disc error without needing a full format.

your motherboard might only have 1 M2 slot, but it will have multiple sata ports

I was able to find a workaround, if I download the game to my SSD I can move the files over to the Hard Drive. However this is only a temporary solution as I still won't be able to download the much bigger games as after all my files and whatnot I only have about 140 gbs free. As for your suggestions I've literally tried all that and I still got the disc error. I'm probably going to just buy a new 1TB drive when I can as the drive I do have is around 11 years old now. I took it out of my old dell laptop from when I was in highschool.

You have check disk and in steam storage mangement you have repair steam library, and game onw validate game intergrity of files.

and you never mention SSD modle and other drev info that a huge mistake, it might matter such drev can have firmware update if its a older SSD but possible its a HHD, and you dont mention near full issue , the lesser free space on such device, the slower the get. also why use last 200gb can be a mistake mention in so many post with drev link 2-4tb+ old disk.

ps.
some other steam user mention AV app can effect even slower handle of files , and technocaly you writ disk thoughput could be a issue. ( but most tech person will not say this but the file checksum cant be same and that why you get "Corrupt disc error" unspecified issue with it process of the write procedur.

And that's why we see so many post with it, and all provblem seem to go away with new drev, you might eneed to talk with harddrev brand becuase any hre can tell you more and more steam user get this and it dont go away.

we are steam usre here, and dont have to nuts and bolts in whats wrong only hard disk brand support have this insight.

i can only say its funny we do not had this issue then drev was empty its more a issue down the road when drev get full.

You can find 1000 of older post with do not use last 10% of space , old windows warning even , problem is that dies with drev go past 2TB to 20tb HHD and thats why its last 200GB will have performance issue, if this is a clue i dont know, i can only say performance write issue is ther and when it kick in is diffrent per drev diffrent cache size and perfomance per each brand drev name, all we know its diffrent , in my very old WD 1,6tb from older pc it was around 160gb then write to disk was get even slower., so you see it impossible for any to say when it happend to you , only it happend last 200gb , well know issue for most tech person, ( you also have seel time ) yes that a disk issue even SSD has it. you might not think it matter any tech person can tell you it do. deisk nees time to find every litte free space every time, so defrag and trim disk can matte in case like this. its seen today as old advice and outdate then windows run defrag automatic depend on brand name support has enable it . see when has windows run defrag last time can matter here.

ps.
And thats why its odd most dont have this issue then drev was empty and storage speace was not a issue.

So free storage space matter , do not use last 200gb on any drev, you are also in trouble if game has a update patch.

And next gen game has past 100gb so 200gb might now be last 500gb.

Some game is now 150gb installation and if they do a full patch game installation then you do not have enough free space. ( some game devs do this, keep find a in game bug in last final patch game install )

So when you dont mention total disk size and used space only point at disk near full when no other info is given.

Ah gotcha, that makes sense. Sounds like that drive’s just on its last legs. Moving stuff manually is a smart temp fix though. Hope you can grab a new one soon, it'll save you a lot of headaches.
