Steam service running "install script" command as administrator everytime i launch the game For Honor
Hi everyone, first time here.
As the title says, every time i start For Honor, there's this message that pops up as administrator:

Steam Client Service

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Steam\steamservice.exe" /installscript "E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\For Honor\runasadmin.vdf" 304390

(the disk C: is where steam is located, the E: disk is where i keep all the games)

Any help? Why does this pop up? is there a way to remove it (it's kinda annoying to have it pop up EVERYTIME i want to launch For Honor) ? What does this command actually do?

thx

Just remove "runasadmin.vdf" from game folder, you should not see the pop-up again.

Usually that "runasadmin.vdf" script is for installing all required files before launching a game. Once game is launched, that script file not really needed anymore. Steam removed that file in past when game is launched at least once, no idea why it's not deleting it anymore.

Ok, i was panicking a bit because i couldn't find the file; turns out it's called "installscript.vdf" and it's located in "...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\For Honor\Scripts" and deleting it solved the issue, thx for the help

Uh that just gets recreated and then runs the pre-requisites again because they haven't been run before properly

Note that you need to fix what the script is trying to run. Because it will only run 'every time' if the install of it constantly fails.

https://steamdb.info/app/304390/depots/

The installers is trying to install vcredist 2022 and directx Jun 2010. You need to run those manually and figure out why theyr'e failing. Deleting the script doesnt 'fix' anything, as any future update will restore the file and then constantly again attempt to run those scripts. And since for Honor is an online MP game, that file will get recreated constantly.

The installers you need to manually install will be in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist
