Steam download speed reduced?
Hello everyone.

This issue have been affecting me since like idk, yesterday? probably longer because I haven't downloaded a game in a while from Steam.

The issue is that my download speed reduced to below 30 Mbps even though my WiFi connection download speed is over 200 Mbps. I've tried clearing download cache but still have the same problem. The download server is "Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia". The last thing I want to do is change the download server.

If you have any solutions or advice, it is always appreciated. Thank you!

Hmm, what do you mean? Are your computer/laptop connect to wifi only? Did you disable Limit download speed on Steam? Or you are just browsing with web browser and may slow download speed on Steam? Maybe cables were problems or just your networking setup was that bad IDK.
In case it was cable issue:
Meaning what kind of ethernet port in networking device is your computer/laptop connect to? It would be better 1Gbps = 1 Gigabit per second and cable has same speed, scenario cable is lesser 1Gbps it could be 100Mbps = 100 Megabit per second you just accidently limit your device.
In case of it was your networking setup:
Most important how many devices are you using in your place right now? What kind of your networking setup? Something like ISP (internet service provider) modem/router connect to your switch then connect to your router better than just only one router, also don't do this setup ISP modem/router connect to your router may causing alot of issues because of collision domain or ISP modem/router way to near your router. Your router/modem it could be overloaded. Or you didn't use 5GHz broadband not 2.4GHz or just your router/modem turn off QoS (quality of service), oh maybe there was speed limit on router/modem. Good day! :steamhappy:

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately (for now), I only use WiFi for my PC. I don't think that the root cause is from my ISP (because from my perspective, it only affects my PC). No, I didn't limit download speed for Steam. Maybe because of faulty hardware?

Try a different download region. Recent reports show that SEA download regions currently appear to have bandwidth issues.

Be aware that changing your download region also changes your Steam Matchmaking region for games that use Steam Networking. Therefore, for better multiplayer performance, change it back to something close to you after you finished downloading.
