How do I remove the friends pop up

First sorry I posted this question but forgot exactly where and cannot find any to see MY posts to even find it. So trying again, (note to self, help and tips.)

So I friended ONE guy after a forum discussion, and now every time I log in, first the steam window pops up, any promotional things they are pushing pops up, some notice I keep on ignoring pops up and now this friends list pops up too. (A lot of garbage just to get to one game.) And ALL OF THIS shows up TWICE. I hit the red dots once, it all pops right back. Second closing does it but WHY?

After a time, we don't really talk, it was fun while it lasted but hoping to make that pop up go away again I unfriended him.
Yet that stupid now totally useless pop up keeps popping up.

STEAM I am NOT AT ALL INTERESTED NOR WILL I EVER EVEN ATTEMPT TO GET ANY MORE GAMES FROM YOU. STOP PUSHING THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO MEANS NO.
I do not have anyone on a friends list so MAKE THAT STOP!
As for your dumb alert thing, well I remind you all, you posted an alert that you would stop functioning on my aging imac computer AS OF LAST YEAR FEB and yet here I am. 13 year old computer, running 10.13, Blew off a huge stash of poker chips on GOP3 thinking I would be gone and yet here I am. Either your team decided too many players USE older computers and decided to not shove us all under the rug, or your tech team is simply clueless. Either way that notice will continue to be IGNORED. I'm NOT reading a damn huge book of terms.... I don't care how many times you throw it in my face. STUFF IT. The very fact that any game I ever found here means all this steam nonsense has to go up in my face every time is the main reason I hate this platform. It's why I don't even look or care to install anything else. (aside from the fact that mac games let alone aging mac games are virtually impossible to find anymore.) I can still find games where I buy the game, install the game and no need for this nonsense. OR visit any number of game sites I have bookmarked that do NOT require all this garbage be thrown at me every time I play. I just click a game and play. EASY.

SO STOP WITH ALL THE POP UPS.

Yea I kinda went on a rant. Basically this friends one never showed up until I added a friend. Now removed, it should stop. Anyone know how?
