launch option on Windows Server 2025 Desktop Experience(COD Warzone)
Hey, does anyone have experience or know? Can I get CoD Warzone to work on my Windows Server 2025 Desktop Experience OS PC by messing with a launch option or some weird command no one hardly knows in other words. I tried -windowed in SteamCMD and tried to launch but it gave me another "launch failed (no default launch option)"

Just my own shot in the dark that a launch option will work, because it won't open from the Steam App, gives that the OS won't work as it's Windows Server 2025. But, it says launch failed because of launch option lol... Sorry, not too much of a search newbie: and nothing really came up. But a newb to getting a Windows Server OS to work on steam, I'm a way noob.

Edit: on second thought, it says no 'default' launch option. Do I need to make a "default" launch option. If so, can you give me an example? That will be a good place to start for me, I think... Then I can look for other launch options to use and see if they are 'default.'

For starters, you don't use SteamCMD to run games, you use it to download severs.

Do you want to run a sever for this game or do you want to run the game itself?
I'm apparently trying the wrong way to run the game. Thanks. I am trying to run the game on Server... Google mislead me on this one. It said I can use the command steam.exe for an example, which didn't work. Was just under the assumption I was doing the right direction of the thing.

To run the game itself, you don't use SteamCMD. You use Steam. The desktop Steam client.

Download the desktop Steam client, download the game through that, run the game through that.
I mentioned above, perhaps in a edit, that I have tried to run the game through the Steam App. Or program. Maybe I should have said or edited "program".

The next thing to try would be running the game on a client Windows. That way, you can make sure that the server Windows is the problem and nothing else.
Thanks, I'll Google how to do that and be right back with what happened.
Are your refering to using my own PC as the client and my own PC as the server. Then using client to access my own PC?? No you can't be asking me to do that...

I don't have another PC to be the client.

Sorry if that makes you give up on this discussion. I think I'm basically out of luck anyway, without running it as a different version of Windows. Or in compatibility mode. Hold on let me try that I'll be back.

Well, running it in compatibility mode didn't work. Maybe because I only have the option of running it as Windows 8. Hold on again, I'll work for a second on how to run compatibility mode as Windows 10.

Let's start from the very beginning. Are you trying to run the game itself or are you trying to run the game server?
I'm trying to run the game itself. I would be trying to run a server but I don't think CoD Warzone has, what's it called, Steampipe? So SteamCMD won't be able to download a server of it...?

Edit: Sorry, let me go back to the beginning of this myself, my search, and let me try to download a server of cod warzone.

Just so you get this one right:

A server, you can't play on. If you want to actually log into the game and shoot ♥♥♥♥, you have to download the game client.

A server, others play on. Well, you can do it too. I run a server on a tiny PC screwed to my wall I play on from a desktop battlestation. I also play on a server I run on the very same desktop battlestation, meaning I run the server and the client on the same machine. Which is possible.

The server, is the software thingy needed to actually host a game. It is when you want to have a DOS-like window with text scolling by, knowing that some random dudes are conneted to your machine over the internet.

Also if you want to play on the same machine on this server. However, you still have to download the game client if you want to actually play the game.

Don't get me wrong I know how servers work. But I don't think you can host a dedicated CoD Warzone server.

When I try to install the Cod Warzone with its ID 1962663 and app_update command it comes up with a problem "Invalid install path".

Why are you using a server operating system for use cases of a client? Wouldn't you be better served using Windows 11 instead?

I doubt the game client is compatible with Windows Server as the operating system.

No, because I have hardware that only a Windows Server OS can use. Driver issue.

I would use Windows 11 if the drivers for certain hardware I use would just get driver support and drivers be made... For some reason, for an example of one bit of hardware, Intel x510 or whatever the device name won't pick up drivers. Then, when I download the drivers separately the thing works for one second then the adapters vanish. A Windows Server OS fixes that problem.

Have you provided the path to download to?

I tried to force an install directory. It obviously didn't work.
