Do Game Saves Get Deleted When Uninstalling? Lost Saves in Older Games Like KotOR and Brothers in Arms
Do my game saves get deleted when I uninstall a game? I recently reinstalled Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, and my profile and saves are gone within the game. I’ve had a similar issue before with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Assassin's Creed. Does this only happen with older games? I haven’t noticed it with newer titles. KotOR does use Cloud Saves, but it only saved my most recent playthrough—none of my previous saves are there. Any idea how to fix this? Or should I just start saving manually from now on? If so, how can I do that?

No.
The saves are stored locally on your system and if applicable on the Steam Cloud.
You can uninstall the game and still keep your save.
Well it is possible that older games store save games in the install directory. And if Steam deletes the whole game folder the save games would go to.

However nothing is stopping you from backup save data either.

I remember games in the past sometimes asking if you wanted to delete or keep saves when uninstalling, so it's possible there are older games that do just automatically delete on uninstall.

Steam cloud isn't a backup service, it's designed to enable you to play games on different machines without having to manually move the save. If you want a reliable backup then you need to use something like game save manager to do it.
