PSYCHONAUTS 2 gone mad! *_*

Hello everyone, something very strange happened to me: a year ago I purchased Psychonauts 2 for Christmas, played it enjoying it sooo much, and did all the achievents in one playthrough (I really loved it). I don't have a powerfull pc, games wasn't flawless like older others, but nothing strange ever occured. After a year I wanted to replayed it, same great sensation, same a bit clunky in some cutscene, but again my experience is enjoyable. Until I reached the "Cruller's Correspondence", played it, gone to MotherLobe and then back in because I lost one figment... then everything went mad..
the game crashes, sometimes in game, sometimes during the loading screen, I couldn't use the smelling salts to go again to MotherLobe because crash during loading.. said to myself "maybe the save is corrupted, let's try with the save of a year ago".. same! Crashes.. tried a new save.. crashes!
I tried the -DX11 solution.. I tried to verify integrity of game files.. I uninstalled and reinstalled.. I updated graphic drivers.. I lowered the graphic to minum all voices.. don't know what else do
sometimes error 0x00007ff83231b6699 etc appear , I opened task manager and CPU used is 1700!! please help, I wanted to finish another time it :'(

I play in a simple Asus Notebook, IntelCore i7, GeForce GTX, as I said first playthrough went well, and games like DOOM 2016 runs kinda ok

Look at the diffrence in win7 or win10 game requirements ( you need other gamers help from game own forum to ruleout this dont matter. + ( huge diffrence in minimum and recommeded game requirements. ( technicaly you could caught in the middle here and not have game requirement

And steam "* Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions."

last info on GTX card you did not mention. we can assume you have it , but i and other here dont know.

and win7 game requirement might not work as good as you think.

i did not say game forum do not have a user FIX, but now you are over in what game devs say + steam, and we here cant say if there is a cleaver steam user that fiddle with something, this is seen before, but dont count on it.

And technicaly we as steam user cant go agaienst official support, in what they said.

thanks for your answer :) yeah I have win 10, my suffering is most because I played it one year ago without problems, just a bit of lag or clunky in cutscenes or ambience with many many objects, but I finished it..
edit: I also tried to disable antivirus, antimalware etc (I have Kaspersky) and that was the most crazy moment: game crashed as always but moreover screen went black, then disconnected from my windows account and had to log in again °o°... no game or anything else ever did this to my pc

Make sure pc is Update in BIOS and chipset driver and max power scamatic full performnce, such detail can matter then you are close to the game requirements edge, dont forget games get dlc and patch and fixes and sometimes such tiny things matter.

Even MS VC++ lateset driver can matter, so game run as smooth as possible.

And use windows setting to set pc to run as fast as possible and not wast resource on let windows make recommendation, but now you are over in tune windows to be a more a max game fperformance, i and other do not explan this anymore , sense next gen pc has surplus in performance , such advice was past gen pc normal ways to do and ajust to max performcen in games.

I hope you know all them settings from past pc, most dont do anymore, could reduce alot of explanations.

Even set gpu card to balance so it dont use Quality as max such was the ways in the past.

Most will not do the old tweaks and tips anymore, unless you have a pc that near the game requiremnts

Dont forget i and other try help you optimized pc, but if they works for you we dont know.

Do not understimate trim SSD and defragmentation on RPM drev, its seen as old advice but could matter in system and it load performance in data.

They are also seen as past gen pc advice, but every drop count to optimize pc.


Same as make sure drev has 200gb free work space for game and system to handle temporary files while it process data ( the game ) many forget games actual do this.
