Steam Input - How can I enable a notification whenever it is in-use?

Over the years, I've randomly had to troubleshoot why my controller is not working properly. It would have helped me to instantly know that Steam Input had been enabled once starting a game. Is there a way to have something like Steam Overlay send a pop-up notification once Steam Input has been applied to a game or controller?
