Cards/codes are typically currency locked.

Only DIGITAL gift cards gifted through Steam are automatically converted.
Physical cards are locked to the region of the currency printed on the card.
So no, physical cards are NOT cross region compatible.

You cannot redeem USD retail gift cards in Malaysia.
Only MYR denominated ones will work.

That's what currency locked means and how it's going to prevent you from using it. You need a wallet card/code that is in your regional currency. They do not auto convert anymore due to be currency locked.

Only the digital gift cards through Steam will convert from one currency to another. Any other form does not.
