1. Check Steam’s Voice Settings
• Open Steam, go to Settings > Voice.
• Make sure your mic is selected as the Input Device.
• Adjust the input volume and test the mic using the built-in test option.
• Try turning off Automatic Gain Control—sometimes it messes things up.
2. Check the game’s Audio Settings
• Go into the game’s settings and double-check that it’s using the right mic.
• Adjust the sensitivity and thresholds (like mic volume or voice activation levels).
• Turn off extra features like noise suppression or echo cancellation if they’re on—they can sometimes cause problems.
3. Update your Audio Drivers
• Outdated drivers can cause weird problems. Update them:
1. Open Device Manager (just search for it in Windows).
2. Find Sound, video, and game controllers.
3. Right-click your audio device and select Update Driver.
• You can also check the manufacturer’s website for newer drivers.
4. Set your mic as default
• Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar and go to Sounds.
• In the Recording tab, set your mic as the default device.
• Under Properties > Advanced, uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.”
5. Disable Steam Overlay
• Open Steam and go to Settings > In-Game.
• Turn off Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game—it’s known to cause issues sometimes.
6. Check your internet
• Voice chat can sound glitchy if your connection is bad. Do a quick speed test and make sure your ping isn’t crazy high.
7. Try Push-to-Talk
• Always-on voice can be finicky in some games. Switch to Push-to-Talk in Steam or the game and assign an easy keybind.
8. Reinstall the game or Steam
• If nothing else works, reinstalling the game or even Steam might clear up any corrupted files causing the issue.
Hopefully one of these works for you. Let me know how it goes.
