Need help with log in for my kid's account
The steam support email isn't monitored any more. I've been through the support process on steam desktop to the point that it's now saying 'you have exceeded the number of allowed recovery attempts'.

The situation is that my kid had a steam account that hasn't been logged into for about 2 years. During that time they got a new phone, phone number and email address. We aren't certain if we have the right password either, it seemed to be working earlier and the issue was that they weren't getting the verification emails to their current email address, but maybe the password has been reset now due to the many attempts to go through the support process. The ******* CAPTCHA process does not work.

On the upside, the account is still registered to my (parent) family account so surely this account can be recovered? I am beyond frustrated with this, as is kid who can't play games on new gaming laptop (was xmas present but delivery was also delayed).

PLEASE someone help? Kid is missing out on the last hours of the steam sale too, and i daren't buy gift games for them in case their steam account can't be recovered :(

Follow this guide, be logged out of all accounts on the machine you're trying to recover the account from and always tag the "don't know password, don't have email, don't have phonenumber" stuffs until it will put you through to last possible way of recovering an account, to write their support and provide sufficiant proof of ownership.

That means you'll need some kind of way to verify that its your account. A payment method or an old CD key that got used. You will also need to provide the first email adress and everything else you can think of. If they deem the information you can provide insufficiant though, the account is lost forever.
Thanks for replying.

I tried that, I put in the old email, got through the captcha, ticked the green box, got the same message as before 'Your response to the CAPTCHA appears to be invalid. Please re-verify that you're not a robot below. (Reference ID: 5164273673556785)

This is what happens over and over until it won't let me try anymore

Disable all add-ons on your browser or try a different browser and see what happens?

Thanks, when you said browser, that helped. I had been using the desktop version of steam, I tried a browser (chrome) and at least was able to get past the CAPTCHA. So now I made a support request ticket at least! Thanks for your help. Any idea how long it will take steam to respond?

Always use an external browser as the internal browser is not a fully fledged browser.

Secondly there is not set time as to when Steam Support will respond so it is merely a waiting game until they do.

If there are no purchased games on the account (or a limited bare-minimum of purchased games), I would just make a new account.
