steam downloads going up to 300-400 then randomly dropping to 0 and slowly climbing back up over and over

this just started recently with my downloads and before it would not do this, anyone know a fix or whats wrong?

also sometimes it will just flatline around 30Mbps and stay there for a few minutes

Look like SSD write behind cache issue , google it , i bet there is over 1000 of post with it.

my task manager says steam is using 100% of my disk, but I don't know why that would be because before I could download stuff at around 450 Mbps

Well make sure steam still use right default drev then, where ever that default staam once was installed on, if you use all space steam will switch to that drev where most disk space free is.

I know i have seen this. ( you do not use last 200gb on any drev anymore, depend on game size and patch update. )

You can find several post with steam use HDD old RPM disk and not the SSD at boot disk , and thats because free space was a issue and steam, do such.

I cant say if this is what happend here, it look like it.

You can find 1000 if not 10.000 post with slow issue , and lack of free space.
