Return for a game that hasn't been played past 2 weeks
So I bought a game back in may, I didn't get a chance to try it out until a couple of days ago.
I didn't realize when I bought it that I needed an XBox Live account. I have a strict no Microsoft policy for various long standing ethical reasons. Long story short, I won't agree to any Microsoft EULA. Is there any way to be refunded? Steam support blanket denies the claim based on the purchased longer then 2 weeks ago. But I'm pretty pissed to have purchased a ~$70 game I can't play. I certainly won't be impulse buying anything on steam any more. And I'm considering leaving for another game distributor (who has a longer return policy) for any future game purchases.

Refund policy is max 2 hours of playtime, no longer then 14 days since purchase.

May is 7 months ago, that money has long gone to the publisher. No shop in the world grants you a refund after 7 months, especially not for digital goods.

I think the longest is GOG who offer 30 days and even that is dependant on the buyer proving that there is something wrong with the product and first working together with their Support to fix said problem.
You not wanting to create/use a 3rd party account that is necessary for the game is not a legit refund reason anywhere since this falls under " do your own research before buying" and is mentioned on the store page of the games you buy.

BTW if you are using Windows you already have a XboxLive account since your Windows account doubles as a account for all Microsoft Xbox services on PC, that includes their Xbox gaming side.

Thanks for the reply, I only play on linux. I should have read more closely when I bought it. I was hoping that since I had not run the software until a couple days ago they could make an exception. Now I've made a $70+ mistake and I feel pretty sour about it non the less.
