Steam support
Hey guys. This steam support is okay? I asked for help with a case where my account was locked because I didn't do it. I also have a screenshot in case anyone is interested.

Hi Im Swat Dec 23, 2024 @ 10:10am
What do you mean are they okay? They’re very busy at the moment with all the different requests and the upcoming festive holidays.

They will get back to you eventually. You just need to be patient and remember that they have hundreds of thousands of other people to respond to as well

Steam support doesn't operate out of the Steam forums. If you made a support ticket you'll just have to wait for a response. Or would you care to elaborate further?

In short, nothing is wrong with Steam support.

If things are happening to your account that you didn't do, your account may be compromised, so you could try to secure it. If you're unable to do so you'll have to work with Steam Support to recover it.

Guys. The problem here is not that they are slow to respond or that I am impatient. That is not the problem. The problem is that my account was locked because of something (which has quite a lot of money in it) that is not my fault.

So what exactly is the problem? Because so far you're avoiding naming it.

Well being cagey doesn't help. Also you convincing yourself something isn't your fault may not make that true. Or at best, there's no way for Valve to tell who's fault it is, and they can't take your word for it.

How is it locked? You need to be more specific, we are not mind readers. But if you get straight to the point one of us may be able to help.

Im guessing it could be one of the following:
1. You lost access to your account and can not log in.
2. You have a trade ban and can not use steam market
3. Your wallet funds have been restricted and can not be used to send gifts.

Taking a wild guess that the "steam support" you are speaking with was on discord.

So. A Hacker hacked my account and did something to keep the account locked forever. I'm not against supporters, but Electronic Arts had a similar situation and they helped without any problems (soon). That is the big situation.

Hijacked. Malware or phishing.

If you still have access to that account:

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Thanks for the helpful tips, I no longer have access to my other account since the support team disabled it. Here I would look for a solution to how to get my account back without the support team really helping. Because they told me not to write to them in the future.
