My D: drive doesn't show up in Steam / Setting / Storage.
I've been trying to set up my new Lenovo 7 pro to install my Steam games on my D: drive, and it does not show up in the storage drop down as an option. I have done everything I could find online to fix, and nothing. Strange thing is, a lot of the solutions "fix trail" doesn't even match up with my version of Steam, which is stright off their website. I have tried reinstalling Steam, Windows (reset) and it still will not show up. HELP!

Quick checklist.

1. What filesystem is D: using

2. Can you read and write to D: from windows?

3. Did you add D: as a library in Steam?
I use the external hot swap and I find it best to assign it to a "permanent" drive letter - I have 4 SSD's with Steam Libraries and they all have drive letters not just the removable D: which has worked out well for me in recent times when using multiple external drives.

Steam settings>storage>see the local drive to the far right where how much space is an arrow>down the bottom add Drive
Every time you close Steam and or remove drive it has to be added again

Wat? I never have to re add any drives after I add them. You might have something messing with your system if that's the case.

Windows and every other program shows both my C: & D: drives, including Xbox and Meta. Steam does nothing when I click "Add drive" under the " Storage" tab. I asked a few tech savvy friends and they agree it makes no sense.

To answer BloodShed:

Quick checklist.

1. What filesystem is D: using - Both C: & D: drives NTFS

2. Can you read and write to D: from windows? - Yes, as far as every other program including windows... my D: drive exists.

3. Did you add D: as a library in Steam? - There is no option to add D: as a library. in the Library, Downloads or Storage tabs.

Any other ideas I could try?

This sounds like the problem point:

After I select "Add Drive", I get the popup "Add a new Steam library folder" when there's a drive that hasn't been set up as a Steam Library folder. If all drives are already set up as Library folders (this includes a system with only 1 drive - its 'library folder' is the Steam folder), Steam opens a file explorer dialog window instead.

Try the manual process of adding/creating a Steam Library folder:

I am telling you all, the best way to mitigate these issues using external storage drives is to give them a proper drive letter so that D: is not seen as a storage drive because if you use USB Flash Drives, this will mess Steam all up while using those "hot swap" letters (removable drive letters), use proper "semi-permanent" drive letters and Steam will have zero issues reading them with USB disks, especially when used in conjunction. :chirp:
