How does leveling up work?

i heard that the higher level you are more cards you need to level up,how much leveling up would it take me to get to level 10 if im level 6?

u get xp and it levels u up

you can see your progress in the [your username] > badges menu. You can see how much XP you need to reach next level. You can add your XP by crafting a badge with collecting the card needed.

so if i were to level up 4 times with csgo cards it would get me level 10? im level 6

Level 1 to 10 you need to craft /1 badge/ per level ..
Level 11 to 20 it's *2* badges.. per level
Level 21 - 30 it's *3* badges per level...

and so forth.

so for you to go from 6 to 10 you'd need to craft only 4 more badges. But if you were going from 16 to 20 you'd have to do 8 badges.

assuming you've only made the csgo badge not at all... so far.. or.. only once.. so far... since you can only craft game badges 5 times.

if you already did the csgo badge five times you couldn't level up 4 more times by crafting it 4 more times.. since.. crafting it 4 more times wouldn't be possible! heh.

Im level 85 now, I need 900XP to jump up one level. As higher you are, that more difficult it gets.

Yes level 1 of CSGO badge gives 100 xp.
but level 2 of CSGO badge also gives only 100 xp
Level 3 of a badge only gives another 100 xp
Level 4 of a badge gives another 100 xp
and level 5 of a badge gives another 100 xp

Maybe that's what you meant.. but when you said a badge gives "its level times 100" it sounded like you think level 2 of the CSGO badge will give you 200 xp.. it does not.

For some people the way the badge page tracks xp is apparently confusing. because you you craft a badge the second time it says "200xp" but what it means is you've collected "200 xp total" 100xp for level 1.. and 100xp for level 2 = 200 xp total for those two levels "Combined"

Yep because level 81 - 90 means 9 badges per level.

1 - 10 ... 1 badge per level
11 - 20 ... 2 badges per level
21 - 30 ... 3 badges per level
31 - 40 ... 4 badges per level
41 - 50 ... 5 badges per level
51 - 60 ... 6 badges per level
61 - 70 ... 7 badges per level
71 - 80 ... 8 badges per level
81 - 90 ... 9 badges per level

...and sooooo on!...
i feel bad for you. i'm frustrated at having to do 5 badges for each level for me.. doing 9 is awfuller still! i can imagine.
