Xbox360 controller (no vibration at all)
Hello, I'm rather new to PC gaming, and I've only had Steam for almost 3 weeks, so I'm not very fluent in the configuration of various settings.

My question is:
when I first downloaded Steam and bought a game, (Killing Floor 2), I hooked up my Xbox360 controller with an unofficial wireless receiver, but it worked exactly as intended, no issues whatsoever, and vibration was working.

The one thing is, I noticed a squeak coming from the controller and eventually decided to take it apart to put some WD-40 on the right analog, and it stopped the squeaking, so I put the controller back together half way and tested a game, and it worked fine, but I hadn't tested the vibration feature at this point.

When I play Sonic Generations, there appears to be mild rumble/normal rumble in this game, but I'm not too sure. That game asks to be configured for the first time, unlike all the others I have. I've also tested the controller on Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and it didn't work with rumble either.

I put the controller back together fully, I'm sure the motors weren't trapped on the case or anything, and everything worked like normal, until I shortly after discovered that the vibration function no longer worked; however, here is what I don't understand. It's weird. Whenever I use the 360 controller on the Dolphin Emulator, the rumble feature works in games, and the rumble test feature on the controller configuration panel. It works just fine, it's as if nothing is wrong with it, yet rumble just isn't working on Steam games, even with charged batteries and the rumble option enabled on various games, it still doesn't respond. Everything else works.

With the front of the controller facing you, the bigger motor goes on the right, and the smaller on the left, if I'm not mistaken. At first I thought maybe it was the misplacement of the motors. Please can someone notify me of the possible cause/solution? I don't have an Xbox 360 console to test this on, either, or another controller. I had another thought that it might be a damaged micro controller on the controller PCB board that sends a specific frequency to Steam config files, or something. Thanks for the help!

Something must have gone wrong when you dismantled the controller—and doused it in WD-40.

It is safe to say that the squeak was an ominous sign to begin with.

If you try to fix this on your own, things might get even worse. :dealwithit:
