Help! Games crash to desktop, dont close, cant open windows
Whenver I try to launch the following games, the game stays open but goes to desktop. I cant reopen the window at all. I just get a black cube on the top left corner of my primary monitor. Alt tabbing to the game or clicking its icon on the taskbar does nothing.

i5 4690k Gtx970, Windows 8.1, 2 monitors. IDK if the second monitor is part of the problem but I use it all the time so I dont really want to disconnect it.

Games that wont launch:
Mortal Kombat X
Silent Hunter 4
Battlefield 2
Call of Duty World at War

Are your drivers up to date?
Do you have the correct version of DirectX?
Could also be a problem with the dual display.
You could also try opening task manager and making sure their process is killed before you launch it.

It is a 3 day old install of windows. Everything should be up to date.
Call of Duty has ran before with dual windows.
I have to kill it completly in task manager because steam says it is already running when I retry the launch.

You have a fresh installation, but that doesn't mean you went to all of the manufacturer's websites to get their latest drivers. Installing drivers from the disk is good for getting your computer operational for basic usage, but not for gaming and what not.

https://www.malwarebytes.org/ wouldn't hurt to check just in case it's not a virus. Then Download PSI Secuina, it does driver checks for you. Then update all of your drivers via Windows Update. I also recommend visit www.overclock.net for PC questions. You get WAY better answers there regarding the possible monitor issue.

Overclock.net is perfect for software & hardware related issues. I prefer tomshardware.com though for hardware issues.
