Microphone not working
I have a Logitech G430 headset that I run through the usb dongle. Audio works fine in games. The microphone works in skype, teamspeak, ect. I cannot it to work in steam. I have gone into the steam settings and under the voice tab it shows my recording device is "Speakers (3- Logitech G430 Gaming Headset)". Whenever I test it none of the bars light up in steam, but it is detected fine in my computers sound setting. I try to detect audio device and it defaults to the speakers. When I try to choose the device as the microphone it does not change. I also have made sure the firmware is up to date and and the headset software installed.

Is there anything I can do to get this to work in steam games?

Edit: Well when I reformatted my computer and reinstalled steam it fixed this issue I had. It may be worth the attempt of reinstalling steam to your computer to see if this fixes your issue. Be sure to keep a backup of your games if you try this.

same problem. Using Hyper X Cloud Headset and it works on TS / Ventrilo / Skype. But is not recognized by steam. I've set the microphone as default, reinstalled audio drivers, tried using the rear audio/mic port, and all the other advice i could find on the internet. Nothing works so far and I'm really desperate to find an answer. Playing Competitive CS:GO without comms is tough q.q

So I used the guide that steam created for fixing microphone issues (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1206-WUOH-3314) and none of the advised methods worked.

I checked skype voice options and Skype could recognize all my different audio devices, speakers/microphone and let me choose whatever I wanted to use.

Steam, however, chooses my speakers as the default input device and won't let me change it to microphone UNLESS I disable my speakers. Even when I disable my speakers and force steam to accept the microphone as the default device, steam doesn't recognize any sound coming from my mic when I do a microphone test.

I even got a new USB sound card to try to fix the issue (which I thought was my sound card), but clearly its either steam or my headset.

My headset is the HyperX Cloud.

Before anyone suggests something, I've already tried using rear audio ports, disabling other sound devices/drivers, setting default audio devices through control panel, closing skype/ts3 other voice com services, AND getting a new sound card.

I would really appreciate some feedback from Valve/Steam Support, not being able to use voice-coms in game is really detrimental towards any type of teamplay in competitive games like CS:GO.

I did a factory reset of my computer (created a backup of my files though), and it fixed the mic problem I was having. Hope this helps other people.
