Is Malwarebytes an anti-virus?

Is malwarebytes an anti-virus just like AVAST and ESET?

Not entirely sure but I think that software removes viruses, It does say anti-malware on their page. I don't have any personal experience with that program though.

Yes, but I recommend shut off an anti-virus in the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (while you using avast) - usage double anti-viruses is not recommended.

I don't think you should ever run two anti-viruses at the same time, they will try to kill each other and it might slow your computer down if you do. They might also after what I have read try to remove each other which is a bad thing.

In the "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" an anti-virus is only one of some tools, so you can shut off him and use avast (with Malwarebytes at the same time) - I used this and it was all ok.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware doesn't run in real-time unless u have the paid version.
Even so, there generally is no real conflict with this app when used in conjunction with others that do run in real-time.

Regadless of what you have for your main suite, I would install and use these.

- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Anti-Rootkit, Anti-Exploit
- Spybot S&D 2.xx

Malwarebytes is an anti-malware software, and not an antivirus, but it is still useful to have, as many anti-viruses don't deal with Malware fully.
