...but clicking on 'Join a friends game' - and selecting a game 'in progress' - worked for me. Sounds like others^ have had success with this workaround as well.

Over 100,000 people got in already, and no one I know can get in, meaning many times that are all trying to get in at once. lol. We're lucky we haven't crashed the site. XD
