Could I get in trouble if someone else (my friend, in this case) has enabled steam mobile authenticator for my account in their phone?

Just by reading the thread and the associated scenarios like "OMG! My account has been lost! I couldn’t have seen this coming! No one could have predicted this! This is completely new and unexpected to me!" makes me shudder ...

Don't do that. Never. Nuh uh. No no.

Valve isn't going to do anything to you specifically. It's not something they can really track or enforce.

However account sharing of any sort is a terrible idea. And the trouble you can get into is your friend were to hijack your account because they're mad and want to punish you. Or your friend cheats or gets banned and you don't want to live with the consequences. Or your friend feels entitled to ownership or access to your account because they bought a game or whatever.

And to be even more clear, I've been with my wife for 14 years, she doesn't have access to my accounts including my Steam account. If I wanted to share something on it I'd use Steam Family Sharing. The same goes for her Steam account. Sharing accounts is a bad idea, 100% of the time.

And over the years I can't tell you how many times I've seen people paint themselves into a corner where account sharing has really bit them in the ass. It's not necessary to do, so don't do it.
