Trying to get a gift copy for someone that is trying to find their account

I am trying to get a gift copy of a game for a family member that is trying to figure out how to add me as a steam friend. I know there used to be a way you could buy an extra copy of a game and hold on to it to give later. How would I do this now. Only asking because she's been trying to get her account fixed the last few days and the sale ends today.

You can give them your friend code or invite link from this page... https://steamcommunity.com/my/friends/add ...that they can use to add you instead. Or you have her send you either one of them and you add her.

As for buying a game gift to hold in your inventory for later, Valve ended that feature in 2017.
