Assistance Needed Regarding Suspicious Trade and Support Ticket Issue
Dear Steam Support Team,

I’m reaching out for assistance regarding a trade issue that I’ve been facing over the past two weeks. A couple of weeks ago, I attempted to start on Faceit and was asked to verify myself by conducting a trade with a real-life friend. I followed the instructions carefully, double-checked everything, and ensured there was no possibility of a mistake.

However, after completing the trade, I received a message from what I believe was either a bot or an admin, informing me that the trade appeared suspicious and that my items would be held for 7 days. Unfortunately, after the 7-day period, I still have not received my items back.

In addition, I’ve submitted several support tickets regarding the issue, but they’ve been closed almost immediately, without any explanation. When I check the trade, I notice that the items were traded to an unknown person I’ve never met, which raises further concerns for me.

I’m left wondering if there could have been an error, or possibly even a situation where an admin might have been involved inappropriately. I would appreciate any guidance or assistance you could provide in resolving this matter, as I’ve already reached a point of frustration after numerous unanswered tickets.

If needed, I can provide screenshots or any other details that might help with the investigation.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your help in addressing this issue.

Best regards,

Yum

Your account is compromised. The person that messaged you was the scammer that has access to your account. They redirected the trade and are closing your ticket so you can’t get help.

Steps to take NOW to secure the account:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

All market transactions and trades are final.

This is also a user only forum, support does not use it.

Thank you for your help. I did all the steps you said. But still, I can't believe this is the issue. I got a message from Steam, not from a user. Im 100% sure it is.
You got message from scammer pretending to be Steam Support. You fell for it and send your items to scammer-associated account.

Messages from Steam appear as account alerts (yellow or red) and cannot be skipped.
The only other way Steam would send messages to you would be a response to any support ticket of yours.

Valve employees will never communicate with you about your account using any chat system including Steam Chat and Discord. There's no situation in which you'd need to reach out to a Valve or Steam employee directly to resolve an issue.

The ONLY way you can contact Steam support and through which you will receive official answers is through https://help.steampowered.com and no other way.
I have the same problem. On 01.28. a Steam Employee wrote on me on steam chat that I used multiple IP adresses( but that was only me because I use so many browsers). I dicussed with her that it was just me.After that she said that I need to legalise my account so i needed to send a trade offer to my friend( I needed to send all my items from my inventory or I got VAC ban or something). The 7 days passed and I still didn't get back my items. Should I ask for a steam support or I got hacked from an other user? i'm a bit nervous about this now I read what you wrote here. (Should I worry about it or no?)

PS:Sorry about my English I tried to write correctly.

Well you are claiming your issue is similar to op's, so reading through the replies they received what would believe should be done?

Steam employees do not communicate with users via chat.

Of course it wasn't you. It was the start of the scam to scare you into doing something you shouldn't.

And that was the one thing you shouldn't have done, still threatening you with a penalty for not doing so.

You're not going to get your items back. They're gone. It may have appeared that you sent them to a friend but they went to a scammer's account.

Steam Support will not return items. The item restoration policy only applies to trades that broke because of a system issue with Steam, not for completed trades to others regardless of the circumstances.

Yes, you should be, because you are not using common sense.

Do the following to re-secure your account:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)
