Transferred Steam to a different drive; game began slowing or stuttering.
So I decided to transfer Steam from C: to D: Drive to save space (C drive randomly loses space... annoying). Was able get Steam to work on the other drive, but the game that I frequently play (Marvel Puzzle Quest) has began stuttering or slowing down a bit, which is weird as it's not a very graphic intensive game, if anything, it's more of a mild inconvenience but still can be mildly an issue.

Basically, I just moved the Steam Folder to another drive, and while the steamapp folder and the game was part of the move, I think that some data was left in the C Drive that may have caused it.

Any help is appreciated

Most probably a read speed bottleneck, if you open task manager you'll be able to see which component is bottlenecking your system.

Generally, you can do this by pressing CTRL+R and entering taskmgr.exe or alternatively by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE and selecting Task Manager.

Once open navigate to the Performance tab of Task Manager and you should see a graphs displaying the load.

Whichever graph is full is probably cause, be it C or D drive.

At the bottom there's a shortcut labeled Open Resource Monitor and this can used to gather more telemetry on the issue.
What are the differences between the drives?

If you've recently transferred Steam from your C: drive to your D: drive and are experiencing stuttering or slowing down in games like Marvel Puzzle Quest, there are a few factors to consider that might help resolve the issue.
Data Left on C Drive: It's possible that some residual data or configuration files were left on the C drive after moving the Steam folder. Check if there are any leftover files in the original Steam directory on C: that might be affecting performance. You may want to clean up any remnants to ensure a smoother transition.
Game Cache and Settings: When moving games, sometimes the shader cache or other settings do not transfer properly. You might want to verify the game files through Steam. Right-click on the game in your library, select "Properties," go to the "Local Files" tab, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Files." This can help replace any missing or corrupted files.
Performance Settings: Make sure that your graphics settings in the game are optimized for your current hardware setup. Sometimes, transferring to a different drive can lead to changes in how resources are accessed, which can affect performance.
Drive Speed and Fragmentation: If your D: drive is an HDD rather than an SSD, it could be slower in loading data compared to your previous setup. Consider moving the game back to an SSD if you have one available, as this can significantly improve load times and reduce stuttering.
Background Processes: Check for any background applications that might be using system resources while you're playing. Sometimes, background downloads or processes can interfere with game performance.
Reinstalling the Game: If all else fails, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling Marvel Puzzle Quest on the D: drive. This can ensure that all necessary files are correctly placed and configured for optimal performance.
By taking these steps, you should be able to mitigate the stuttering issues you're experiencing after moving Steam to a different drive.:luv:
See the link below, do you see a spike on any of your graphs when the issue occurs?

I checked the Integrity part, everything is in order.

Seems like it might be an HDD issue (Drive D is)...

fine , just u cant try to reset your driver settings
I tried uninstall and install... still the same issue (if anything, it was slower as it needs to reopen the assets). So it's the HDD issue. Guess will have to live with a slight lag for a puzzle game.
It may be that you have a corrupt sectors on your disk, I suggest you run a Check Disk for both the drive your operating system is on, as well as the suspected problematic drive. It is best to finish with scanning the C:\ drive, as that one requires a reboot and can take some time.

Below are instructions to scan the C:\ drive, to scan another drive replace C for the line containing "chkdsk C: /r", with the drive letter.

You may also want to run an SFC scan, followed by closing with verifying the integrity of your game files for the game you are having issues with.

Once the above is complete, launch your game again and see if the problem persists or not.

Disk Check - CHKDSK
  1. Press Start and then type “command prompt". Right-click 'Command Prompt' and then select “Run as administrator”.
  2. Type "cd\" and then press enter.
  3. Type "chkdsk C: /r" and then press enter.
  4. Authorize check disk to run during the next system restart by entering "Y".
  5. Close out the window by typing "exit" and then press enter.
  6. Restart your computer.

System File Checker - SFC

Verify Integrity of Game Files
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
  1. Restart your computer and launch Steam.
  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button.
  4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
