Nothing will launch suddenly
Easlier this week, things were fine, I went to log in two days ago and nothing will launch now. I reinstalled Steam and that worked for a day but now games go through "Play, launching, synchnoizing cloud, launching executable" and the blue stop button turns to the green play button again.

I have restarted, used the net repair tool, checked drivers, cleared the cache, run it as an administrator, at this point I am out of ideas. It was the fact that it worked after the uninstall for a day that is really confusing, I don't want to keep uninstalling and reinstalling Steam every time.

this is happening to me right now too i just want to play games and it wont launch at all
Oh, that's weird. My last Windows update was on 10 days ago, so it's not likely to be that. I may roll it back just be sure, as it was for .NET framework.
I have this problem too,why ??launching the game and suddenly fate?
Similar problem here, I need to restart Steam every time I want to play a game. Other games that don't use Steam have no issues.
Yeah, restarting Steam does nothing for me, are you shutting it down via Task Manager or something?
its the dot.net executables running on first launch of a game... there is a way to fix this but it might break the pc. hold windows key + r, tytpe REGEDIT. in the HKCR tree you will find Products
heres my thread about it ages ago when i realized game launches could be broken by windows settings:

Oh wow, super weird. It would explain why Steam doesn't think there's a problem though, I ran the exe like it was supposed to.

I'll have a look in the next day or two and see if that fixes things. That's what frustrating about this, I don't have enough time to game, let alone try and fix things when games don;t load. :(
Just found I have this issue with multiple games. Last night everything was fine. Made no changes with any settings or updates. This morning all but one game will not launch.
Currently reinstalling everything as my last resort with all the suggestion I have tried from Youtube and Reddit.
Just finished a clean reinstall and still failed to launch.
Okay, I found the solution to my issue! Steam apparently changed some things on the way they launch games and a silent alarm was pinged in antivirus (Sophos) because Steam was launching another exe.

The only way I was able to see this was in the Event Viewer under Custom Views was HitmanPro.Alert events and the x64launcher.exe was being blocked every time by thte HollowProcessGuard.

So check your antivirus stuff and make sure x64launcher.exe can get through.
Nope, all lies. It worked for a few things. What does seem to be working best is right clicking games in the library and then Manage > Add Desktop Shortcut and launching outside Steam. Annoying to have another step but please don't delete and reinstall Steam without trying this first like I did!

I don't use any antivirus , only the windows defender. can you write the steps so that i can check if the windows defender is blocking the .exe file ??

Did the shortcut thing , but it didn't worked for me . Waiting for the steps regarding the widnows defender in your previous comment..
I had the same issue as y'all, I re-downloaded "VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll" both x64 & x86 version and all my games worked perfect after those were repaired/installed.
