Friend made a statusupdate with my screenshot of a game.
Hi,

I have no idea how to explain this properly in the title as english is not my main language and i am just literally translating what i am reading, so i have no idea if the word statusupdate is correct for the english version of steam.

Anyways, a friend from my friendslist used a screenshot i made from a game, that is set to, only friends can see it, and made a statusupdate with it. (I can see it because for sum reason it shows up on the games status page in my library?? I have no idea how to call that in english but when u click a game and it shows the play button, all kinds of extra's u did in the game or friends did in the game, show up here.)

Where is that statusupdated posted on his profile page or wherever as, when i click that message of the statusupdate, all it shows me is my own screenshot with my friend's reactions and not the statusupdate with his friend's reactions below it. I can see his friends reactions on that message on the game's status page.

Also, don't know if it's sumhow needed to know, he doesn't own the game himself. He's basically making a statusupdate with my screenshot to tell his friends how bad the game is and how buggy it is eventho the screenshot isn't showing a bug but sumthing that is in the game. He just hates the developers, or at least strongly dislikes them and uses my screenshot that doesn't show a bug and thinks it is a bug.

Also, i kinda set my screenshots to visible for friends only as i don't like sharing screenshots with total strangers so how can he use my screenshot that should technically be private to the world and still show it to the world???

I just want to know the anwsers to these questions so i can learn steam better.

So, question 1 would be, Where is that statusupdate located on his profile or where could he have posted it?

And Question 2 would be, How is it possible he can share a screenshot that is basically set to private (friends only) and share it with the world?

Thanks for any help provided.

Any direct post or Share of UGC to your Activity feed is considered a Status Update. You can share screenshots, news updates, whatever has a Share feature associated with it. If you're looking at the Game page where you saw the Status Update, you should see a field where you can "Say something about this game to your friends..." If you type something in that and post it, it will appear as a Status Update for that game to all of your friends. It doesn't appear anywhere else on someone's profile. It's on their Friends Activity feed and it will be distributed onto all of their friends' Friend Activity feed.

How they did that with your screenshot, is easy. It was set to Friends-only but you said they were a friend. So they can go to the screenshot and see it. On that screenshot page is a Share link in which they could post it to their Friend Activity feed as a status update. Now it's still Friends Only. You can see it because you and he are friends. His friends who are also your friends should be able to see it. Outside of that it shouldn't be seen on anyone else's Friend Activity feed.

Well, his friends aren't my friends tho, i only know him.... So technically, him sharing it to his friends is him sharing it to "the world" in this case, his friends. To me, strangers.... it's a weird function steam has tho. I wasn't expecting that.

But basically, it means that status update is still on my status page but he shared it to his friends? So, it's not on his profile status page or whatever? Am i understanding that correctly?
